Job Title

RF Design Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Intern position within the Advanced Cellular design team supporting RF/analog design and test. Work includes schematic and simulation support, hands-on lab measurement, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams on product-focused projects.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for current college students (undergraduate or graduate). Role is intended for students seeking practical, hands-on RF engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities during the internship include:

  • Contribute to design of functional blocks such as power amplifiers, LNAs, switches, acoustic filters, and RF modules.
  • Balance performance targets with size, cost, and schedule constraints.
  • Support designs for LTE, carrier aggregation, multi-antenna configurations, filters, and power management.
  • Address product requirements for ruggedness, ESD, and quality.
  • Produce schematics and simulation results and correlate them with lab measurements.
  • Use signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to validate designs.

Requirements

Core expectations and skills for candidates.

  • Must-have: Coursework or hands-on exposure to analog/RF concepts (see Education Requirements for degree/course details).
  • Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills; self-starter with good organization.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience using RF measurement equipment (spectrum/network analyzers) and familiarity with lab test procedures.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to RF/EDA tools such as ADS, AWR, HFSS, Momentum, Cadence, or Python scripting.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program. Degree focus: Electrical Engineering (BS/MS/PhD) or closely related technical field. Coursework in analog/RF circuit design required; minimum GPA of 3.0 expected. Equivalent practical experience not listed as an alternative in the source.
