Job Title
RF Analog Design Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Design, optimize, and deliver analog and mixed-signal blocks for high-speed SerDes and analog interfaces across advanced CMOS nodes. Member of the RF & Analog IC Design / Mixed-Signal High-Speed SerDes team within IP and System Solutions, collaborating with layout and validation to produce production silicon.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 7+ years of analog/mixed-signal IC design experience or demonstrated Staff-level impact.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include end-to-end analog/mixed-signal design and silicon correlation:
- Own design, analysis, and optimization of analog and mixed-signal blocks (voltage regulators, DACs, AFE/DFE, TX drivers, serializers, and support circuits).
- Make architectural and circuit-level tradeoffs to meet power, performance, area, reliability, schedule, and complexity targets.
- Lead collaboration with custom layout teams on floorplanning, matching, shielding, and parasitic-aware design.
- Define and verify testbenches for pre-silicon validation across PVT, mismatch, aging, reliability, and yield.
- Drive post-layout optimization and sign-off; correlate extracted simulations with design intent and close timing for small digital blocks.
- Execute silicon bring-up, lab characterization, and debug; correlate measurements with simulations and drive design improvements.
- Document architectures, design decisions, simulation results, and silicon learnings for knowledge transfer.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted.
- Deep expertise in analog and mixed-signal circuit design in deep sub-micron CMOS with strong understanding of signal integrity, noise, and jitter.
- Proven track record owning complex blocks from concept through production silicon and delivering robust results.
- Hands-on collaboration experience with custom analog layout: matching strategies, shielding, parasitic control, and EM/IR considerations.
- Production silicon experience including lab bring-up, characterization, and debug with ability to correlate measurement to simulation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence multidisciplinary teams (layout, validation, system architects).
- Experience with timing analysis, digital/AMS interaction, and post-layout optimization is a strong plus.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent technical field; or equivalent practical experience. The posting expects senior-level experience (typically 7+ years) or demonstrated Staff-level impact.
