The role focuses on electromagnetic and optical imaging modeling, simulation, and data analysis to improve defect detection capabilities.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Candidates with a PhD may qualify with little or no industry experience; candidates with a Master’s typically have ~3+ years relevant experience and Bachelor’s ~5+ years, per the position's credential-to-experience mapping.

Responsibilities

Deliver technical results spanning simulation, feasibility studies, prototype support, and communication of findings.

  • Perform electromagnetic simulations and data analysis to model and validate system performance.
  • Conduct feasibility investigations of novel algorithms or system concepts to address inspection challenges.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype design, implementation, and tool performance validation.
  • Document and present technical results and trade-offs to cross-functional teams and management.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.

Must-have:

  • Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving ability applying electromagnetism and optics to imaging or measurement problems.
  • Hands-on experience with electromagnetic and optical image modeling and simulation tools, or equivalent modeling experience.
  • Proficiency in image and signal processing and statistics using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and trade-offs clearly to cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-functional team.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with computational imaging methods applied to optical measurement or inspection.

Education Requirements

Required academic background: degrees in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optical Imaging, or closely related technical fields are referenced. The posting specifies credential-to-experience mapping: PhD with 0 years related experience; Master’s with ~3 years related experience; Bachelor’s with ~5 years related experience.
