Reliability Test Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for planning and executing reliability and qualification testing for new product introductions (NPI) and sustaining products. Works with cross-functional teams to develop electrical test programs, fixtures, and equipment and to analyze reliability data to drive product and process improvements.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role expects demonstrated experience in semiconductor electrical testing and test development; 3+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on reliability test program development, execution, and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:
- Plan and execute reliability and qualification test programs for NPI and sustaining products.
- Develop and optimize electrical test programs and perform electrical test setups.
- Design and modify test fixtures, test handlers, and test equipment.
- Coordinate with operations for test package release, prioritization, and resolution of test issues.
- Analyze reliability test data and report findings to engineering and quality teams.
- Drive alignment of reliability tests across product teams and improve execution efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement of electrical test equipment, methods, and processes to reduce cycle time.
Requirements
Core skills and experience required or preferred for successful performance in this role.
Must-have:
- 3+ years working in semiconductor electrical testing or test development (preferred by the employer).
- Hands-on experience with electrical test instruments and methods (oscilloscopes, curve tracers, parametric analysis).
- Familiarity with statistics and data analysis tools for test result interpretation.
- Understanding of thermomechanical, thermal, mechanical and hygroscopic effects on package reliability.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to work independently while partnering with cross-functional teams.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Programming experience (examples listed: Visual Basic, VBA for Excel, C#, C++).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with thermal imaging (FLIR), lock-in thermography, and fault isolation techniques.
- Working knowledge of industry standard reliability test methods, acceleration models for life prediction, and sampling statistics.
- Experience with semiconductor package assembly processes and PCB assembly reliability considerations.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronics, Microelectronics) or Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
