Reliability Test Development Engineer

Role Summary

Implement, execute, and analyze laboratory-based reliability tests for semiconductor components to support product development and qualification across Microchip business units. Work with reliability engineers and technicians to validate test setups, run qualification campaigns, and deliver test reports.

Responsibilities

Support reliability qualification by designing and operating lab test systems, monitoring campaigns, and reporting results.

  • Define, prepare, and validate reliability test setups using laboratory equipment.
  • Execute reliability test campaigns per qualification plans and internal standards.
  • Configure instrumentation, monitor tests, and ensure smooth test operations.
  • Manage burn-in oven operations and develop burn-in boards (hardware and software).
  • Collect, analyze, and synthesize test data; identify anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Draft and publish test reports and result summaries for project teams and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with international product development teams and with Nantes and Chandler laboratories on shared equipment and infrastructure.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and optimization of test methods and laboratory equipment usage.

Requirements

  • Must-have: Experience in reliability testing, qualification, or characterization of electronic/semiconductor components.
  • Must-have: Experience with burn-in oven management and burn-in board development, including programming and debugging.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with laboratory equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • Must-have: Strong technical analysis and results-synthesis skills; ability to produce clear, structured test reports.
  • Must-have: Good level of technical English and ability to work with international, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of semiconductor reliability standards (JEDEC, AEC-Q100).
  • Other: Autonomy, meticulous organization, and strong interpersonal/team collaboration skills.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Education Requirements

Engineering degree (or equivalent) in electronics, microelectronics, materials science, or applied physics β€” or equivalent practical experience.
