Reliability Lab Engineer

Role Summary

Perform and manage qualification and reliability tests for semiconductor products in a lab environment. The role combines hands-on test execution with technical responsibility for data evaluation, failure analysis support, and adherence to reliability standards.

Work within the Reliability Testing chapter and report to the Lab Supervisor; collaborate with local lab teams and internal stakeholders. Compensation follows the German metal-and-electrical industry collective agreement (M+E Hesse, ERA 7).

Responsibilities

Execute assigned qualification and reliability test orders and ensure correct test delivery from setup to completion.

• Independently prepare, set up, start, monitor and close complex reliability tests.
• Perform precise measurements and time-aligned data acquisition for reliability campaigns.
• Plan resources, schedules and equipment allocation for assigned test work.
• Review test requirements and ensure test execution meets specifications.
• Create, adapt and maintain measurement/test programs; review programs produced by technicians.
• Troubleshoot test setups, equipment and execution issues.
• Develop domain knowledge of reliability standards, qualification procedures and failure mechanisms.
• Participate in investigations of test deviations and unusual test behavior.
• Coordinate technically with internal requestors and stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement of lab processes.

Requirements

Core skills, knowledge and attributes expected for successful performance.

• Experience in an engineering, reliability testing or laboratory environment.
• Basic understanding of reliability testing principles and qualification methods.
• Familiarity with laboratory and measurement systems and standard test procedures.
• Proven troubleshooting skills for test setups and equipment-related execution problems.
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
• Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to build deep knowledge of reliability standards and failure mechanisms.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple internal teams.

Education Requirements

Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a comparable technical field.
