Role Summary
Lead Reliability Hardware Design and product qualification activities for new products and advanced technologies within the Reliability team. Coordinate reliability strategy, qualification planning, and external lab execution across design, technology, product and package teams.
Drive experiments, material/process characterization, and failure analysis to improve product quality and reliability.
Experience Level
Senior — Staff level. Minimum 8 years of semiconductor reliability, hardware design, or product engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include leading reliability hardware design and qualification execution and collaborating with cross-functional NPD teams.
- Lead Reliability Hardware Design and HTOL/THB/HAST bias-injection vector validation and manage external reliability lab qualification execution.
- Develop and document reliability strategy and qualification plans for new product development (NPD); participate in weekly cross-functional NPD meetings.
- Design and execute DOE, material and process characterization, reliability stress tests, and product qualifications.
- Perform first-level reject disposition, support failure analysis (FA) and root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Review NPD test programs with Product and Test Engineering to ensure test quality and qualification readiness.
- Conduct qualification readiness checks, prepare risk assessments and reliability qualification reports.
- Analyze qualification drift and electrical data for rejects and provide engineering inputs to improve product robustness.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Design, Technology, PI, PE, TE, PKG) to deliver reliability deliverables on schedule.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.
- Minimum 8+ years experience in semiconductor reliability hardware design, reliability engineering, or product engineering.
- Experience with external reliability lab management and end-to-end product qualification flow and tests.
- Hands-on lab skills and familiarity with test/measurement equipment (oscilloscope, power supplies, sourcemeter, function generator, network analyzer, etc.).
- Familiarity with industrial standards for qualification and PCN processes (AEC-Q100, JEDEC, IPC).
- Knowledge of CMOS device and circuit reliability, reliability statistics and models, and stress test methodologies.
- Knowledge of CMOS packaging, assembly processes, and common semiconductor package failure modes.
- Experience with product/test engineering tasks including drift analysis and electrical data analysis of qualification samples.
- Experience with failure analysis flows and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; effective in cross-functional teams and external lab interactions.
Education Requirements
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline is required. M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
