Reliability Engineer
BroadcomJob Title
Reliability Engineer
Role Summary
Join Broadcom's Global Operations Quality Assurance (REL) team in Fort Collins to perform reliability qualifications for ASIC silicon and packaging solutions. The role provides hands-on engineering support for qualification testing, board and thermal review, HTOL setup, and coordination with internal business units and external vendors to meet project schedules.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The role targets candidates with substantial experience in hardware design and reliability testing; 8+ years related experience is desired, and 5+ years in a REL lab environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include preparing and executing reliability qualifications, supporting lab operations, and coordinating across teams and vendors.
- Review board hardware schematics and PCB layout for qualification readiness.
- Perform thermal head simulation and thermal solution design review.
- Generate hardware specifications for external board vendors and verify designs prior to fabrication.
- Coordinate between internal Business Units and external vendors to supply required data and meet qualification schedules.
- Set up, verify, and checkout HTOL and other reliability test systems; convert HTOL vectors for in-house MCC HTOL systems.
- Debug boards, sockets, and test vectors; provide technical support to the REL lab team.
- Develop biased and unbiased stress testing plans and complete initial biased stress certifications.
- Manage biased-stress project schedules (internal and external) and ensure projects meet qualification milestones.
Requirements
Concise list of required and preferred technical skills and experience. Degree requirements are summarized separately under Education Requirements.
- Must-have: Strong hardware design experience or ASIC test engineering background; hands-on experience supporting lab qualification projects and debugging test setups.
- Practical knowledge of reliability qualification stress tests (HTOL, HTS, TC, THB, uHAST, bHAST, preconditioning/reflow).
- Test engineering experience, including electrical bench test setup, measurement, and debug.
- Schematic review and PCB layout review skills with strong attention to detail to catch design errors.
- Familiarity with industry IC stress test standards (JEDEC, MIL-STD).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with MCC HTOL, AEHR Test Sonoma HTOL, Biased HAST equipment, Automated Test Equipment (ATE), or background in IC chip design.
- Ability to use AI to develop software tools to automate complex or repetitive tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication; able to work independently and manage multiple projects across business units. Shift flexibility may be required for critical support.
Education Requirements
BS degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer) or a related field is preferred. The posting indicates 8+ years of related experience is desired; candidates with fewer than 8 years or degrees in other engineering or science disciplines will be considered on an individual basis. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
