Job Title

RDA Application Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for creating and optimizing inspection recipes and detection methods to improve yield and product quality in semiconductor manufacturing. Works with process, equipment, and technology development teams and supports transfers from TD for products processed at Fabrication 15 (Hiroshima).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on detection, inspection recipe management, and yield/quality improvements on the production line.

  • Create, modify and validate inspection recipes and detection methods to improve yield and product quality.
  • Lead detection development, optimization and recipe health assessments during product startup and transfers.
  • Collaborate with PI, process, equipment and technology development teams to meet technology roadmaps.
  • Investigate and resolve defects, abnormalities and production-line issues.
  • Support transfer activities from TD and document best-known methods (BKM).
  • Drive yield improvement, cost reduction, productivity improvement and risk management actions.
  • Report task progress accurately and on schedule to stakeholders.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation ability.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with team members, stakeholders and business partners.
  • Ability to set, measure and achieve short- and long-term goals.
  • Proficient in English for conversation and documentation.
  • Understand quality control concepts and lead proactive quality-improvement activities.
  • Willingness to be stationed at Fab 15 (Hiroshima manufacturing site) and to remain on-site for extended periods when required.

Nice to have:

  • Semiconductor process knowledge and metrology experience.
  • Familiarity with Micron transfer processes, BKM and DRAM flow step sequences.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with content experts via email, chat, conference calls and face-to-face meetings.
  • Experience applying AI-enabled tools to improve operational efficiency.

Education Requirements

Requires knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree; Master's-level knowledge is preferred. No specific field mandated, though semiconductor-related, metrology or other technical disciplines are relevant.
