RDA Application Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for creating, launching and optimizing inspection recipes and detection strategies to improve yield, quality and productivity in semiconductor manufacturing at Fab 15 (Hiroshima). Works with PI, process, equipment and technology development teams and supports recipe transfers from Technology Development.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting notes training and on-the-job learning are provided and states prior experience is not required.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Create, modify and validate inspection recipes to detect defects and improve yield and product quality.
• Develop and optimize detection methodologies and measurement approaches.
• Execute recipe transfers from Technology Development (TD) and support product transfers.
• Investigate production-line defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with PI, process, equipment and technology development teams to meet technical roadmaps and ramp objectives.
• Support startup and ramp activities for inspection recipes and process controls.
• Monitor recipe health, capacity and quality metrics and report progress accurately and timely.
• Contribute to yield improvement, cost reduction, productivity improvement and risk management initiatives.

Requirements

Must-have skills and conditions:

• Timely and accurate reporting of task progress.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; able to produce documents and converse in English.
• Able to build effective working relationships with team members and business partners.
• Understanding of quality control and a proactive approach to quality improvement.
• Ability to set, measure and achieve short- and long-term goals.
• Willingness to be stationed at Fab 15 (Hiroshima manufacturing site) and remain on-site for extended periods when required.

Preferred / nice-to-have:

• Semiconductor manufacturing or metrology knowledge.
• Experience with inspection transfer, best-known-methods (BKM) or Micron processes.
• Familiarity with DRAM flow and typical step sequences in memory manufacturing.
• Ability to communicate clearly with content experts via email, chat and meetings.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to improve operational efficiency.

Education Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor's degree is required; Master's-level knowledge is preferred. Relevant technical fields include electrical/electronic engineering, materials science, physics or other applied sciences, or equivalent practical experience. Metrology or semiconductor-related training is a plus.
