Radiation Effects & RAS Silicon Architect
Role Summary
Work in the Advanced Architecture, Technology & Verification Group to define and develop FPGA and SoC architecture with a focus on radiation effects (SEE/TID) and Reliability, Availability, Serviceability (RAS) for terrestrial and space markets.
Contribute to radiation-hardened product architecture, predictive modeling, PDKs and test vehicles, and collaborate with silicon technology, architecture, and marketing teams.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture definition, radiation analysis, and development of mitigation solutions.
- Apply IC design and solid-state physics fundamentals to address Single Event Effects (SEU, SEL, SEFI) in FPGAs and space-grade silicon.
- Define and develop SEE Product Design Kits (PDKs), test vehicles, and system-level radiation hardening approaches.
- Evaluate and validate test vehicles at the FPGA level and contribute to competitive technology analysis.
- Contribute SEE/RAS architectural specifications for XQR/space-grade FPGA and SoC products.
- Analyze semiconductor technology scaling and its impact on radiation sensitivity.
- Build predictive models for next-generation radiation performance, considering features, power, and cost trade-offs.
- Collaborate with Silicon Technology, Advanced Architecture, and Marketing teams; coordinate across sites and time zones.
- Travel to worldwide test facilities and participate in development consortia as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and logistical requirements; preferred items noted separately.
- Must-have: Deep knowledge of radiation effects (SEU, SEL, SEFI, TID) and the underlying physics impacting semiconductor devices and FPGAs.
- Must-have: Experience with FPGA and SoC architecture, implementation, and relevant software/tools.
- Must-have: Strong background in IC design and solid-state physics applied to radiation mitigation.
- Must-have: Experience in advanced silicon process technologies and architecture analysis.
- Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective written and verbal communication, and ability to collaborate across distributed teams.
- Must-have: Willingness to travel internationally to test facilities.
- Must-have: Must be authorized to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
- Nice-to-have: Prior experience at a leading semiconductor company working on radiation-tolerant or space-grade products.
- Nice-to-have: Self-driven with ability to set direction and execute independently.
Education Requirements
