R&D Staff Engineer — Embedded Memory (Ho Chi Minh City)

Role Summary

Senior engineer responsible for designing and delivering embedded memory IP (SRAM, ROM, register files) for advanced process nodes. The role sits on the embedded memory IP team in Ho Chi Minh City and collaborates with global memory design, CAD, compiler, verification, and layout teams.

Primary mission: develop robust bitcells and memory circuits, integrate them into compiler/automation flows, and resolve silicon yield and reliability issues that affect customer tape-outs.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting requests approximately 5–8 years of hands-on experience in embedded CMOS memory design.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include circuit design, integration, and mentorship.

• Design and optimize embedded memory circuits (SRAM, ROM, register files) for advanced process nodes.
• Lead bitcell development from concept through transistor-level characterization, corner analysis, and reliability validation.
• Collaborate with and supervise layout engineers to preserve design intent through physical implementation.
• Integrate memory designs into compiler and automation flows and support verification environments.
• Analyze silicon data to identify failure modes and drive yield and performance improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers on circuit techniques, simulation practices, and design-for-manufacturability.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted where applicable.

• 5–8 years of practical experience in embedded CMOS memory design, focusing on SRAM, ROM, or register file development.
• Deep expertise in SRAM bitcell design, including read/write stability analysis, leakage optimization, and statistical variation modeling.
• Proficiency with circuit simulators such as HSPICE or Spectre and familiarity with layout review and verification tools.
• Strong scripting skills in C-Shell and Perl for automation and data analysis; experience with C++ or JavaScript is a plus.
• Experience with silicon bring-up, corner analysis, and working with foundry/process partners to resolve reliability issues.
• Strong technical communication skills in English and Vietnamese for collaboration across global teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline (as stated in the posting).
