R&D Engineering Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Design, simulate, characterize, and support layout for embedded memory IP (SRAM, ROM, register files) used in production semiconductor products. Work closely with layout, CAD, verification, and frontend teams to meet performance, power, and area targets.

Position is part of the R&D engineering team in Noida focused on delivering robust memory solutions and improving design methodologies and automation.

Experience Level

Senior-level - 5+ years of hands-on CMOS circuit design experience with embedded memory (SRAM, ROM, or register files).

Responsibilities

Primary technical responsibilities include circuit implementation, validation, and cross-functional integration:

• Design and simulate embedded memory circuits using Cadence Virtuoso or equivalent tools.
• Support layout activities and coordinate with layout engineers to ensure correct physical implementation.
• Perform bitcell characterization and basic reliability analysis across PVT corners.
• Debug circuit-level issues by analyzing simulation results, identifying root causes, and proposing fixes.
• Collaborate with CAD, verification, and frontend teams on design requirements, timing, and integration.
• Write and maintain technical documentation: design notes, simulation reports, and analysis summaries.
• Develop scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve design flow efficiency.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role:

• 5+ years of hands-on CMOS circuit design experience specifically with embedded memory (SRAM, ROM, register files).
• Working knowledge of memory architectures, bitcell design, sense amplifiers, and read/write fundamentals.
• Experience using Cadence Virtuoso or similar schematic capture and simulation tools; familiarity with layout interaction.
• Strong ability to read and interpret simulation waveforms and to troubleshoot circuit behavior.
• Clear written and verbal communication in English and ability to collaborate across teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with bitcell characterization and reliability analysis methods.
• Scripting experience (C-Shell, Perl, or Python) to automate flows and data analysis.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
