R&D Engineering Manager

Role Summary

Lead the Embedded Memory and Logic team within Solutions Group to develop standard and custom embedded memories (SRAM, register files, ROM, TCAM) and memory compilers. The role spans architecture, circuit design, physical implementation, verification, and model generation across multi-site teams.

As a manager you will plan and drive projects, resolve cross-discipline issues, and ensure delivery against schedule while coordinating with CAD, verification, and customer-facing teams.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 10+ years of relevant experience in embedded memory design and management.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage and mentor a team responsible for SRAM/register file/TCAM/ROM architecture and circuit implementation.
• Oversee schematic entry, block simulation, layout planning and supervision, and interface with CAD for full verification and model generation.
• Define and implement low-power and area-efficient embedded memory circuits and architectures.
• Coordinate cross-functional and multi-site activities; escalate and resolve technical issues to keep projects on schedule.
• Engage with customers and senior internal stakeholders to align on requirements and proposed solutions.
• Prioritize and monitor team workload; facilitate productive daily operations and remove blockers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• 10+ years exposure to the full embedded memory design flow: architecture, circuit design, physical implementation, compiler automation, characterization, timing and model generation.
• Deep understanding of SRAM/register-file architectures and advanced custom circuit implementations.
• Direct experience with advanced process nodes and variation-aware design, including FinFET technology for memory design.
• Strong CMOS device and circuit fundamentals; familiarity with CMOS fabrication considerations.
• Proven experience in processor and digital design flows relevant to memory integration.
• Mastery of scripting for automation (Perl, Python) and experience interacting with CAD/automation teams.
• Ability to solve a wide range of technical issues independently and to coordinate large or small teams.
• Good communication skills and customer focus; experience interacting with senior internal/external personnel.

Education Requirements

BE / B.Tech / ME / M.Tech / MS in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (from a recognized institute/university).
