R&D Engineer - Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Deliver and validate semiconductor library deliverables and power models to support tape-out and signoff flows. Work on library views, APL model generation, build validation, and release packaging while collaborating with characterization, design, CAD, QA, and release teams.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 5+ years of experience in library development, validation, or characterization for semiconductor IP or EDA flows.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include validation, automation, debugging, and release of library deliverables and power models.
- Create and validate library views across formats and technology nodes to meet design and signoff requirements.
- Develop, validate, and package library deliverables for internal use and external customer releases.
- Generate and validate Apache Power Library (APL) models such as SPIPROF, Current, CDEV, and PWCDEV for power integrity and signoff.
- Execute quality checks on library builds, APL models, and release packages to detect issues early.
- Debug and resolve complex problems across characterization flows, model generation, build validation, and release processes.
- Build and maintain Python and Shell automation to increase validation coverage and release velocity.
- Collaborate with characterization, design, CAD, QA, and release teams to align requirements and remove blockers.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience; items marked as "nice-to-have" are preferred but not mandatory.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in library development, validation, or characterization for semiconductor IP or EDA flows.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Shell scripting for automation and workflow orchestration.
- Deep understanding of library views, formats, and their role in digital and custom design flows.
- Solid debugging skills across multi-step flows involving characterization, model generation, and release processes.
- Ability to work across global teams and communicate technical issues clearly to design, CAD, QA, and release stakeholders.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Apache Power Library models such as SPIPROF, Current, CDEV, or PWCDEV.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
