Job Title

R&D Engineer - Memory (SRAM) Design

Role Summary

Early-career circuit design engineer focused on SRAM bitcell and peripheral circuit design, transistor-level validation, and compiler/automation support. The role sits on a memory IP team and collaborates with layout, verification, and characterization engineers to deliver high-performance, low-power memory solutions for SoCs.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 0–2 years of relevant experience (including internships, projects, and coursework).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include circuit design, simulation, verification, and automation for SRAM and its peripherals.

  • Design and optimize SRAM bitcells and peripheral circuits (sense amplifiers, write drivers, precharge circuits, row/column decoders) for power, performance, area, and yield.
  • Run transistor-level simulations using SPICE-class tools across process, voltage, and temperature corners.
  • Perform Monte Carlo and variability analysis to ensure robust operation across manufacturing spread and aging effects.
  • Contribute to SRAM compiler development and automation flows using scripting languages (Python, Perl, Tcl).
  • Debug circuit failures, analyze noise margins, and implement read/write assist techniques to improve reliability.
  • Collaborate with layout, verification, and characterization teams to close timing, power, and area targets.
  • Document design decisions, simulation results, and circuit methodologies for team knowledge sharing and design reuse.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and demonstrated abilities; items listed as "nice-to-have" are optional.

  • Strong foundation in CMOS device physics, transistor operation, and semiconductor process technology.
  • Understanding of SRAM architecture, bitcell design, and memory circuit fundamentals (can be from coursework or internships).
  • Familiarity with SPICE-level transistor simulations and experience validating circuit behavior across PVT corners.
  • Proficiency with Unix/Linux environments and scripting (Python, Perl, or Tcl).
  • Analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective oral/written communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to new design methodologies.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with SRAM compiler development, advanced-node design challenges, Monte Carlo/variability workflows, or published work in memory design.

Education Requirements

B.Tech or M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, VLSI Design, Microelectronics, or a related technical field (the posting also accepts equivalent academic projects, internships, or practical experience for early-career candidates).
