R&D Engineer, IC Design (Level 4)
Role Summary
Work on front-end ASIC core design and verification, including architecture definition, RTL design, synthesis, and verification using simulation and formal methods. Collaborate with physical implementation and cross-functional teams to deliver timing-closed, production-ready cores.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical background: Bachelor's degree with 8+ years related experience or Master's degree with 6+ years related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define architecture and logic blocks based on system requirements.
- Develop RTL and perform synthesis; create and manage constraints for design blocks.
- Verify designs via simulation and formal verification; simulate and debug designs using Verilog simulation.
- Analyze static timing from physical implementation and drive timing closure.
- Run lint and power analysis; support DFT/scan methodology and testability requirements.
- Automate flows with scripting and maintain source with version-control tools.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain experience:
- Proficiency in TCL and/or Perl scripting.
- Experience with synthesis tools such as Synopsys Design Compiler/DC topo or Cadence RTL Compiler.
- Static timing analysis experience with PrimeTime and familiarity with Liberty (LIB) timing models.
- Experience with formal verification tools (for example Synopsys Formality or Cadence Conformal) and RTL/gate-level simulation and debugging.
- Familiarity with Spyglass lint and power analysis of RTL and gate-level netlists.
- Experience with DFT/scan methodology and version control systems (SVN or Git).
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience. The posting specifies a Bachelor's degree with 8+ years related experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years related experience.
