R&D Engineer, IC Design
BroadcomJob Title
R&D Engineer, IC Design
Role Summary
Work on SoC Design-for-Test (DFT) activities for Broadcom APD ASIC designs, covering DFT architecture, test insertion and verification, pattern generation, coverage improvement, post-silicon debug and yield improvement.
Collaborate with Physical Design & STA for DFT-mode timing closure, coordinate with distributed teams, and potentially interact with external customers.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience: Bachelor's degree with 8+ years relevant experience, or Master's degree with 6+ years relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver DFT solutions across pre- and post-silicon phases and support product test metrics.
- Define and implement DFT architecture for SoC designs.
- Perform DFT insertion and verification (scan, BIST, JTAG flows).
- Generate test patterns and improve test coverage and quality.
- Run vector simulation and support pattern diagnostics.
- Lead post-silicon debug and contribute to yield-improvement efforts.
- Coordinate with Physical Design & STA for timing closure in DFT modes.
- Work with geographically distributed teams and with external customers as needed.
- Independently execute tasks and supervise other team members when required.
Requirements
Core skills and experience required; listed as must-have where stated and notable additions as desirable.
- Deep knowledge of DFT concepts and methodologies.
- Experience with ATPG, MBIST and JTAG-based test flows.
- Proven experience in DFT insertion & verification, pattern generation, coverage improvement, and vector simulation.
- Experience in post-silicon debug and resolving test/failure root causes.
- Strong problem-solving and digital-debugging skills.
- Experience collaborating across multiple geographies and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and to supervise/mentor team members.
- Nice-to-have: scripting skills (Perl, shell) and experience with Mentor Graphics DFT tools (TestKompress, Fastscan).
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience.
