R&D Engineer IC Design 4

Role Summary

Front-end ASIC design and verification engineer responsible for architecture definition, RTL design, synthesis, and verification of high-frequency cores. The role requires independent execution of design tasks and collaboration with verification, synthesis, timing and physical implementation teams.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires significant industry experience (examples in the posting: MS +6 years or BS +8 years of related experience).

Responsibilities

Deliver RTL and verification for ASIC cores and support handoff to implementation teams.

• Define architecture and design logic blocks from system requirements.
• Perform RTL design and synthesis; create and refine synthesis constraints.
• Develop and execute simulation and formal verification flows to verify functionality.
• Analyze timing reports from physical implementation and drive timing closure.
• Simulate and debug designs using Verilog simulation.
• Collaborate with physical implementation, verification, and test teams to resolve issues.

Requirements

Technical skills and tools required to perform the role.

• Must-have: Proficiency with TCL/Perl scripting for automation.
• Must-have: Synthesis experience with Synopsys Design Compiler/DC or Cadence RTL Compiler.
• Must-have: Static timing analysis experience using Synopsys PrimeTime for high-frequency designs; familiarity with liberty (LIB) timing models.
• Must-have: Experience with formal verification tools such as Synopsys Formality or Cadence Conformal.
• Must-have: Linting and power analysis experience (e.g., SpyGlass) on RTL and gate-level netlists.
• Must-have: Knowledge of DFT and scan methodologies.
• Must-have: Version control experience (SVN or Git).
• Nice-to-have: Prior work on high-frequency or timing-critical ASIC blocks.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. The posting specifies a Bachelor's degree with ~8+ years of related experience, or a Master's degree with ~6+ years of related experience.
