Role Summary
Responsible for front-end ASIC core design and verification: architecture definition, RTL logic design, synthesis, and verification using simulation and formal methods. Collaborates with physical implementation and system teams to meet timing, functional, and integration goals.
Experience Level
Senior-level; typically 6–8+ years of related ASIC design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include design, synthesis, verification, and timing closure for ASIC cores.
- Define architecture and RTL logic blocks from system requirements.
- Perform logic design, synthesis and constraints development.
- Verify designs via simulation and formal verification tools; debug RTL and implementation issues.
- Analyze timing from physical implementation and drive timing closure.
- Work cross-functionally to integrate blocks and resolve implementation problems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools experience; nice-to-have items noted.
- Must: Proven front-end ASIC design and implementation experience, including RTL development and verification with Verilog.
- Must: Synthesis experience with Synopsys Design Compiler/DC or Cadence RTL Compiler and constraints development.
- Must: Static timing analysis experience with PrimeTime and familiarity with Liberty (LIB) timing models.
- Must: Experience with formal verification tools (e.g., Synopsys Formality, Cadence Conformal) and simulation/debug flows.
- Must: Scripting proficiency (TCL, Perl) and version control (Git or SVN).
- Nice-to-have: Spyglass lint, power analysis for RTL and gate-level netlists, DFT/scan methodology experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is specified. The posting allows equivalent practical experience: a Bachelor's with ~8+ years related experience or a Master's with ~6+ years related experience.
