R&D Engineer IC Design 4

Role Summary

Design and verify front-end ASIC cores from architecture through RTL, synthesis, and verification. Work with cross-functional teams to meet system requirements and ensure timing closure for high-frequency designs.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

The role focuses on front-end logic design, synthesis, verification and timing analysis.

• Define architecture and implement logic blocks from system requirements.
• Create synthesis constraints and run synthesis flows for design blocks.
• Develop and execute verification plans using simulation and formal methods.
• Analyze post-layout timing and work toward timing closure for high-frequency designs.
• Simulate, debug, and waveform-trace RTL/Netlist behavior using Verilog simulation.
• Collaborate with physical design, verification, and system teams to resolve issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools experience for immediate contribution.

• Front-end ASIC design and implementation experience (architecture, RTL, synthesis, verification).
• Proficiency with Verilog simulation and debugging workflows.
• Experience with synthesis tools (Synopsys Design Compiler / DC topo or Cadence RTL Compiler).
• Static timing analysis experience with Synopsys PrimeTime for high-frequency designs.
• Familiarity with liberty (LIB) timing models and timing constraints.
• Experience with formal verification tools (e.g., Synopsys Formality, Cadence Conformal).
• Scripting skills in TCL and/or Perl to automate flows.
• Experience with lint tools (e.g., Spyglass) and RTL/gate-level power analysis.
• Knowledge of DFT and scan methodologies.
• Version control experience (SVN or Git).

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. The posting defines credential/experience combinations: Bachelor's degree with 8+ years related experience, or Master's degree with 6+ years related experience.
