Job Title
R&D Engineer, IC Design 4
Role Summary
Responsible for front-end design and verification of ASIC cores, including architecture definition, RTL design, synthesis, and verification using simulation and formal methods. Deliver timing-closed logic blocks and collaborate with physical design, verification, and system teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level β the role expects approximately 6β8+ years of relevant ASIC design experience (see education section for specific experience-to-degree guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary duties involve defining and implementing RTL blocks, running synthesis and timing flows, and verifying correctness through simulation and formal checks.
- Define architecture and logic for design blocks from system requirements.
- Develop synthesis flows and constraints; run synthesis with industry tools.
- Perform RTL and gate-level simulation and debug using Verilog-based environments.
- Apply formal verification methods to validate design correctness.
- Analyze timing from physical implementation and drive timing closure for high-frequency designs.
- Collaborate with physical design, verification, and system teams to integrate and deliver blocks.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tool experience.
- Proven front-end ASIC design and verification experience (RTL design, synthesis, timing analysis).
- Experience with synthesis tools such as Synopsys Design Compiler / DC top or Cadence RTL Compiler.
- Timing analysis experience with Synopsys PrimeTime and familiarity with liberty (LIB) timing models.
- Experience with formal verification tools (e.g. Synopsys Formality, Cadence Conformal) and lint tools (e.g. Spyglass).
- Scripting proficiency in TCL and Perl.
- Experience with power analysis of RTL and gate-level netlists, and knowledge of DFT/scan methodology.
- Version control experience (SVN or Git).
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally to meet delivery and timing objectives.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. The posting specifies a Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of related experience or a Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience, or equivalent practical experience.
