R&D Engineer IC Design
BroadcomJob Title
R&D Engineer, IC Design
Role Summary
Design and develop RF power amplifiers for RF front-end modules, working across architecture, transistor-level circuit design, simulation, layout, and validation. Collaborate with RF front-end, layout, and validation teams to deliver production-ready designs.
Experience Level
Mid-level (title indicates a standard engineering role; no explicit years of experience provided).
Responsibilities
Accountable for RF PA development from concept through validation:
- Design RF power amplifiers and perform circuit and system-level simulations.
- Correlate simulation results with measurements and support validation activities.
- Work with RF front-end, layout, and validation teams on architecture and top-level simulations.
- Provide transistor-level design and support layout implementation and review.
- Support lab characterization, debugging, and problem resolution related to linearity, memory effects, AM-PM distortion, and thermal behavior.
Requirements
Must-have skills and attributes:
- Hands-on experience designing RF power amplifiers and RFIC circuits.
- Solid knowledge of RF IC design, device physics, microwave and electromagnetics.
- Analog and RF layout experience.
- Experience with ET, APT, and Doherty PA architectures.
- Proficiency with ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, HFSS, and ETH.
- Good lab skills for circuit characterization; strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-starter, team player, and effective communicator.
Education Requirements
MS degree or PhD with hands-on experience in RF power amplifier or related RFIC circuit design.
