R&D Engineer IC Design

Role Summary

Work on memory design validation for SRAM, multi-port memories, register files, TCAM, ROM compilers and custom macros at advanced process nodes. Join the Central Engineering Group and coordinate validation, simulation, and silicon correlation with memory design and modeling teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include validation, analysis, automation, and cross-team coordination to ensure memory IP function, timing, power and reliability at cutting-edge process nodes.

• Lead memory design validation for compilers and custom macros across process nodes (including advanced nodes).
• Perform functional verification and root-cause analysis of design discrepancies.
• Run transistor-level simulations to validate timing, power-up/lock-up behavior and internal margins.
• Perform signal integrity, EM/IR and reliability analysis and propose mitigations.
• Perform QA and validation checks to produce accurate timing and power models.
• Support silicon bring-up, debug and correlation to SPICE models.
• Develop scripts and automation to streamline verification flows and data analysis.
• Coordinate with memory design leads, modeling teams and managers to execute validation plans.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools and behaviors required for the role.

• Proven experience developing memory macros and architectures (SRAM, multi-port, register file, TCAM, ROM).
• Strong understanding of transistor-level circuit behavior and analysis.
• Experience with layout challenges at sub-nanometer process technologies.
• Practical knowledge of signal integrity, EM/IR and reliability analyses.
• Hands-on experience with transistor-level simulators and waveform viewers (examples: HSPICE, Spectre, XA, PrimeSim, XARA, nWave).
• Proficient with Cadence schematic/layout tools.
• Experience writing automation scripts (Skill, Perl, Python) and tool integration.
• Good debugging, problem solving, communication and leadership skills.
