R&D Engineer (C/C++)

Role Summary

Join the VCS Compiler team to design and implement C/C++ software components for RTL simulation and EDA tools. The role focuses on developing, debugging, and maintaining production-quality software used by semiconductor customers.

The team works cross-functionally with application engineers, QA, and customers to improve simulation performance, scalability, and usability.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of industry experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a master’s degree.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Design, implement, and maintain software modules and subsystems in C/C++.
• Translate customer requirements into implementation tasks and features.
• Debug and resolve issues; perform bug verification, release testing, and beta support.
• Maintain and fix defects in legacy codebases.
• Collaborate with engineers and QA to reproduce and investigate problems.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and proven project development experience.
• Strong problem-solving and software debugging skills.
• Experience with Linux/Unix development environments.
• Good English communication skills, verbal and written.

Nice-to-have:

• Familiarity with EDA IC design flows or HDL (Verilog).
• Scripting skills in Python and/or Tcl.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable per the posting language.
