Job Title

Qubit Control IC Designer

Role Summary

Design mixed-signal integrated circuits and FPGA/SoC solutions that generate and acquire precise control signals for qubits. Work on control electronics that interface quantum-stack microinstructions to physical qubits, focusing on scalability and integration with Intel CMOS and packaging technologies.

Join a cross-disciplinary team working at the intersection of semiconductor engineering and quantum physics to develop architectures and circuits for large-scale quantum systems.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role expects approximately 5+ years of relevant experience (industry or equivalent research/academic experience).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing mixed-signal control electronics and ensuring signal integrity for qubit control.

  • Architect, design, and test mixed-signal SoC and FPGA solutions that interface microinstructions to qubits.
  • Design and generate precise control and readout signals for qubit operation.
  • Perform signal integrity analysis and optimize designs for performance and crosstalk mitigation.
  • Apply electromagnetic (EM) modeling and simulation for on-chip and on-package interconnects.
  • Lead silicon prototyping flow activities: design, validation, layout, tape-out, and lab testing.
  • Collaborate closely with software/algorithm teams and qubit development teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to be considered for the role.

  • RF/analog/mixed-signal circuit tape-out experience in advanced process technology and lab testing.
  • Experience with silicon prototyping flow, including design, validation, layout, tape-out, and testing.
  • Architecture, design, implementation, and verification experience for mixed-signal systems and circuit blocks such as LNAs, mixers, PAs, PLLs, VCOs, ADCs, and DACs.
  • Practical signal integrity and high-speed interconnect experience.
  • Strong collaboration skills working across software, algorithms, and device/qubit teams.

Nice-to-have / preferred:

  • Experience with EM modeling and simulation tools for signal integrity and crosstalk analysis.
  • High-level system design and behavioral modeling (Matlab, Verilog, Verilog-A, SystemVerilog, etc.).
  • DSP and signal-processing expertise.
  • Experience with quantum computing, qubit design/fabrication/control (preferred focus on spin qubits), and qubit characterization using dilution refrigerators and lab-grade control electronics.

Education Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree; 5+ years of relevant experience. The posting allows equivalent qualified experience obtained via professional employment, academic research, university projects, coursework, or comparable educational/professional activities. No specific field-of-study is mandated in the posting, though the role is technical and typically aligned with electrical engineering, applied physics, or related disciplines.
