Job Title

IP Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Perform mixed-signal IP verification to ensure designs meet functional, timing, power, and performance targets. Work within the Central Engineering Group with cross-functional teams to define verification strategies, implement test environments, reproduce and debug presilicon issues, and document results.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical candidates have multiple years of IP verification experience (see Education Requirements for degree-specific minimums).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive mixed-signal IP verification plans and test strategies.
  • Create and maintain testbenches and verification environments using methodologies such as UVM/OVM.
  • Perform analog behavioral modeling to validate functionality, timing, and power objectives.
  • Identify, reproduce, and debug presilicon bugs and root causes; drive corrective actions.
  • Analyze coverage metrics and propose improvements to achieve verification completeness.
  • Collaborate with design, layout, and system teams to refine verification approaches and optimize designs.
  • Document test plans, methodologies, and results; lead technical reviews with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain and improve verification infrastructure and methodologies to support evolving IP requirements.

Must-have:

  • 3+ years experience with SystemVerilog/Verilog and advanced verification methodologies (UVM/OVM).
  • Experience with industry EDA simulators and verification tools (examples: Synopsys VCS, Cadence Xcelium/JasperGold, Mentor Questa).
  • Analog behavioral modeling experience and verification of high-speed I/O IP or low-power validation.
  • Strong debugging skills in both analog and digital domains.
  • Experience with PCIe and/or UCIe protocols.
  • Experience in test planning, test environment development, and developing verification content.

Nice-to-have:

  • Proven experience working in cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Track record of delivering results under tight timelines and disciplined execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and presentations.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD (no prior experience required).
