Job Title
Quantum Topological Qubit Lead Integrator
Role Summary
This is a senior technical and organizational leadership role in the Quantum Technology Solutions organization responsible for end-to-end semiconductor integration for topological qubit platforms.
The role aligns advanced materials, device architectures, BEOL interconnects, and heterogeneous assembly into manufacturable, scalable quantum hardware and leads cross-functional teams to execute integration programs and qualification activities.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive experience; the posting specifies 12+ years in semiconductor device, materials, or integration.
Responsibilities
Lead technical strategy and program execution to deliver scalable topological qubit hardware.
- Define and own integration architecture for topological qubit systems across materials, devices, interconnects, and packaging.
- Drive development and integration of advanced materials (III-V heterostructures, superconductors, topological materials) and epitaxy where applicable.
- Establish BEOL superconducting interconnect and low-loss cryogenic wiring schemes.
- Integrate qubit devices with cryogenic control and read-out ICs; ensure device-to-process alignment for coherence, noise, and thermal behavior.
- Lead yield learning, variability reduction, defectivity control and DOE-driven process improvement.
- Define system-level tradeoffs across performance, yield, scalability, and cost and set technical milestones and KPIs.
- Support hardware qualification, reliability, and manufacturability readiness for scale-up.
- Serve as primary technical interface to internal leadership, external partners, and research collaborators; report progress, risks, and mitigations to executives.
- Build and lead a high-performance engineering team and maintain EHS compliance in all activities.
Requirements
Key qualifications and experience required and preferred for the role.
Must-have:
- 12+ years of experience in semiconductor device, materials, or integration engineering.
- Strong knowledge of quantum-relevant materials (III-V semiconductors, superconductors, topological materials).
- Experience with device physics and operation at cryogenic temperatures.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering programs and delivering technical milestones.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience transitioning research into manufacturable semiconductor technologies.
- Experience with epitaxial growth methods (MBE, MOCVD) and heterostructure engineering.
- Background in semiconductor-superconductor or topological/Majorana qubit systems.
- Experience with BEOL integration, superconducting wiring, low-loss interconnects, 3D heterogeneous integration, and advanced packaging.
- Familiarity with cryogenic control/read-out IC architectures and collaboration with academic, government, or industry research programs.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a related technical field.
