Quantum Spin Qubit Integration
Role Summary
Member of Technical Staff responsible for process and module integration of semiconductor spin-qubit hardware within the GF Labs / Technology Development organization. The role focuses on enabling scalable, CMOS-compatible spin-qubit devices through hands-on process work, cryogenic characterization, data-driven problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 5+ years of relevant semiconductor process, device, materials, quantum device, or integration engineering experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver integration milestones for spin-qubit platforms by developing manufacturable process flows, characterizing devices at cryogenic conditions, and driving yield and variability improvements.
- Integrate spin-qubit hardware: isotopically enriched silicon channels, quantum-dot gate stacks, charge sensors, gate fanout, BEOL modules, cryogenic interfaces, and packaging.
- Develop and execute CMOS-compatible process flows for channel formation, gate dielectric/metal stacks, fine-pitch gate definition, isolation, contacts, and module interactions.
- Improve low-noise device and interconnect structures for cryogenic operation (charge sensing, RF reflectometry, bias routing, filtering, packaging).
- Analyze process and device performance drivers: charge noise, interface traps, variability, contamination, leakage, mobility, valley splitting, and thermalization.
- Design and run DOE studies; analyze inline, physical, electrical, RF/microwave, transport, and cryogenic data to guide integration improvements.
- Work cross-functionally with device, process, metrology, packaging, reliability, design enablement, and cryogenic-test teams.
- Translate qubit requirements into manufacturable flows, design rules, materials specifications, characterization plans, and yield-learning actions.
- Document process flows, tradeoffs, characterization results, and technical learnings for scalable development and knowledge transfer.
Requirements

Must-have:
- 5+ years of experience in semiconductor process, device, materials, quantum device, or integration engineering.
- Significant experience with semiconductor device integration, advanced gate stacks, nanoscale device structures, or cryogenic device / quantum-hardware integration.
- Experience with silicon spin-qubit, quantum-dot, MOS, Si/SiGe, FD-SOI, or related platforms.
- Experience with electrical, transport, RF/microwave, or cryogenic characterization of semiconductor devices, quantum dots, charge sensors, or related structures.
- Experience integrating or characterizing qubit control/read-out structures (charge sensing, RF reflectometry, gate-based sensing, spin/charge transport measurements).
- Strong data analysis, debugging, problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10%.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with isotopically enriched silicon, Si/SiGe heterostructures, quantum wells, or MOS quantum dots.
- Familiarity with nanoscale patterning and process modules: e-beam or advanced optical lithography, ALD, oxidation, etch, CMP, implants, anneals.
- Experience with cryogenic probing, dilution refrigerators, automated qubit tuning, or low-noise RF/transport measurements.
- Experience with BEOL integration, low-parasitic interconnect, fine-pitch routing, TSVs, flip-chip, interposers, thermalization, or cryogenic packaging.
- Familiarity with cryo-CMOS interfaces, multiplexing, device TCAD/modeling, DOE/yield learning, variability modeling, or reliability assessment in R&D/manufacturing.
Education Requirements
Required: BS in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field. Preferred: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
