Job Title

Quantum Ion Trap Integration

Role Summary

The Quantum Ion Trap Integration role is an engineering position in GF Labs / Technology Development responsible for integrating semiconductor building blocks for scalable ion-trap quantum computing platforms. The role focuses on BEOL CMOS integration, photonics, interconnects, and advanced packaging to deliver manufacturable, scalable, and reliable hardware.

The position drives technical direction and program execution, translating device and system requirements into process integration schemes and working cross-functionally with device engineering, process development, packaging, reliability, and manufacturing teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically requires 5+ years of relevant semiconductor process or integration engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include defining and executing integration strategies and ensuring manufacturability and program delivery.

  • Lead semiconductor integration for ion-trap quantum computing platforms with emphasis on BEOL CMOS, photonics integration, and advanced packaging.
  • Translate system and device requirements into manufacturable integration schemes, process requirements, and design rules.
  • Drive yield-learning and integration debug activities, including root-cause analysis, DOE definition, and corrective action implementation.
  • Set technical direction, priorities, and deliverables aligned with program milestones.
  • Coordinate cross-functional execution with device engineering, process development, BEOL integration, packaging, reliability, and manufacturing teams.
  • Communicate integration progress, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, plus preferred skills.

  • Must-have: 5+ years relevant experience in semiconductor process or integration engineering.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with BEOL CMOS integration and familiarity with high-voltage (HV) and RF device requirements.
  • Must-have: Experience with yield learning, DOE methodologies, root-cause analysis, and semiconductor metrology techniques.
  • Must-have: Proven ability to drive cross-functional programs and deliverables across device, process, packaging, reliability, and manufacturing teams; effective stakeholder communication.
  • Must-have: Approximately 10% travel.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience in high-volume manufacturing or advanced development environments.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to photonics integration or advanced packaging workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to quantum computing hardware, ion trapping technologies, or cryogenic/vacuum systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
