Job Title

Quantum Integration Engineer - PMTS

Role Summary

The Quantum Integration Engineer (PMTS) is a senior technical contributor in the Quantum Product Development organization who leads the integration of semiconductor technologies to enable scalable quantum computing systems. This role drives integration architecture decisions, defines experimental roadmaps, and coordinates development programs across device engineering, process development, packaging, manufacturing, modeling and external partners.

Experience Level

Senior - 15+ years of semiconductor process integration, technology development, or advanced manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities focus on technical leadership, integration development, cross-functional execution, data-driven problem solving, and mentorship.

  • Define and lead semiconductor integration architectures for quantum platforms, including front-end devices, BEOL routing, photonic interfaces, packaging, interconnects, and cryogenic interfaces.
  • Develop and execute integrated process flows, module interactions, process windows, DOEs, and technology learning cycles.
  • Establish technology roadmaps, integration checkpoints, performance metrics, and technical success criteria.
  • Evaluate technology tradeoffs involving performance, manufacturability, reliability, yield, cost, and scalability.
  • Analyze electrical, physical, reliability, and metrology data; lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Translate quantum system requirements into semiconductor technology requirements and development plans.
  • Collaborate with device engineering, process teams, manufacturing, reliability, modeling, design enablement, and external partners; support customer and partner technical engagements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and MTS-level contributors; contribute to invention disclosures, publications, and patents.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and demonstrated experience.

  • 15+ years in semiconductor process integration, technology development, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Proven expertise in semiconductor integration, process development, or technology commercialization.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical programs or major development initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills, experimental design, statistical analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to engineering and leadership audiences.
  • Experience with DOE methodologies, yield learning techniques, and data-driven optimization.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with BEOL technologies, photonics integration, advanced packaging, or heterogeneous integration.
  • Knowledge of quantum hardware architectures, ion trapping technologies, photonic systems, or cryogenic electronics.
  • Experience supporting advanced R&D programs funded through government, commercial, or academic partnerships.
  • Familiarity with MES systems and foundry processing; experience transitioning research into manufacturing.

Education Requirements

Associates Degree, BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
