Role Summary
Design and test scalable readout systems for topological qubits at component, subsystem, and system levels. Join a multidisciplinary Microsoft Quantum team focused on measurement-based topological quantum computing.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, testing, documentation, and cross-team integration for qubit readout systems.
- Design and test scalable readout circuitry for topological qubits at component, subsystem, and system levels.
- Co-design readout interfaces with qubit and control teams, aligning to evolving qubit designs and control requirements.
- Develop measurement tools, processes, and engineering best practices to accelerate quantum hardware progress.
- Analyze, interpret, document, and present measurement results to internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Maintain and contribute to safety standards and protocols for lab and field work.
Requirements

- Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check and required security screenings; must provide proof of citizenship or lawful status when required for export-controlled information access.
- Ability to work in an "AI-first" environment and leverage modern AI tools for measurement, modeling, analysis, and task automation.
- Experience working in fast-paced, interdisciplinary engineering or R&D teams with strong written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to work on-site approximately three days per week and to travel up to ~25% as needed.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RF readout techniques used in solid-state qubits (e.g., RF-SETs, dispersive readout).
- Experience with semiconductor spin systems, cryogenic microwave experiments, and low-noise amplifiers.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field; OR Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field plus 2+ years of industry or R&D experience; OR equivalent practical experience. Preferred: PhD in Physics/Engineering; OR Master's plus 3+ years; OR Bachelor's plus 5+ years. Equivalent experience accepted.
