Quantum Cryo PDK Architect

Role Summary

Lead development and delivery of GlobalFoundries' Quantum PDKs (QPDKs). Define architecture, governance, release management, automation, and design enablement flows to produce production-quality PDKs for cryogenic and quantum applications.

Provide hands-on technical leadership across PDK infrastructure, version control, release baselines, and cross-functional execution.

Experience Level

Senior - minimum 10 years in semiconductor PDK development or design enablement.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include defining architecture and processes for QPDKs and ensuring timely, high-quality releases.

• Define and maintain QPDK architecture, governance, and development processes.
• Create QPDKs from existing GF PDKs, balancing reuse, customization, and maintainability.
• Own version control, release baselines, branching strategies, access control, and configuration management.
• Define and improve QPDK development, QA, release, and change-management processes.
• Plan and execute timely, high-quality releases through governance and cross-team coordination.
• Evaluate and selectively integrate updates from source PDKs based on customer and business value.
• Leverage AI, automation, and data-driven methods to improve development efficiency and time-to-market.
• Specify Assembly Design Kit (ADK) requirements and integrate with 3DIC teams; manage licensing, compute resources, and development environments.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, architectural reviews, and contribute hands-on in a core PDK discipline as needed.
• Support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs and safe working practices.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills and experience for successful performance.

• Must-have: Minimum 10 years in semiconductor PDK development or design enablement; deep expertise in at least one major PDK development area (e.g., PCells, DRC, LVS, PEX, design manual).
• Experience with source-control systems, release management, and EDA tool flows.
• Proven leadership of cross-functional technical initiatives and ability to drive releases and process improvements.
• Fluency in written and verbal English.
• Availability to travel up to 10%.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with cryogenic/quantum technologies, advanced packaging or heterogeneous integration; project management, strong written/verbal communication, and planning/organizational skills.

Education Requirements

Required: BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Preferred: MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
