Quantum Analog IC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the analog/mixed-signal design team to develop advanced analog ICs and reusable IP for emerging applications, including cryogenic CMOS and quantum-control systems. The role covers circuit architecture, transistor-level design, layout supervision, tapeout, and silicon validation.

Work closely with device modeling, PDK, layout, test, and cross-functional teams to drive designs from concept to measured silicon and enable technology and customer solutions.

Experience Level

Level: Senior - Minimum 8 years of relevant analog or mixed-signal integrated circuit design experience; Principal-level responsibilities expected.

Responsibilities

Primary duties focus on full lifecycle analog/mixed-signal IC design and silicon validation.

• Design amplifiers, bias/reference circuits, regulators, ADCs/DACs, oscillators, PLLs, clocking circuits, and drivers as reusable IP.
• Lead circuit development from architecture, schematic and simulation through layout review, DRC/LVS, tapeout, and silicon characterization.
• Perform PVT, Monte Carlo/mismatch, noise, stability, linearity, timing, and post-layout parasitic analysis; correlate simulation to measured data.
• Optimize circuits for wide operating ranges including cryogenic temperatures, managing power, process variation, and layout-dependent effects.
• Collaborate with device modeling and PDK teams to validate models, identify gaps, and provide circuit-level feedback for cryogenic and advanced PDKs.
• Define silicon test structures and characterization plans; debug performance issues and document design-to-measurement correlation.
• Lead technical design reviews, document methodologies and results, and mentor junior engineers.
• Support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and perform work safely; travel up to 10%.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role; preferred items listed separately.

• Must-have: Minimum 8 years of analog or mixed-signal IC design experience with track record of taking circuits through schematic, simulation, layout, parasitic extraction, tapeout, and silicon validation.
• Must-have: Strong knowledge of CMOS analog fundamentals: device physics, noise, matching, feedback, stability, frequency response, process variation, and PVT/Monte Carlo analysis.
• Must-have: Proficiency with SPICE-based simulation, layout environments, physical verification, and post-layout extraction flows.
• Must-have: Ability to analyze complex circuit and silicon performance issues and implement design improvements; effective written and verbal English communication.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with cryogenic CMOS, quantum-control electronics, precision instrumentation, RF, or advanced analog applications.
• Nice-to-have: Experience designing ADCs/DACs, PLLs, LNAs, VGAs, oscillators, references, LDOs, or high-speed drivers and familiarity with cryogenic device behavior and compact-model limitations.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with silicon characterization and correlation to simulation; familiarity with automation/scripting (Python, SKILL, Tcl, or equivalent).
• Nice-to-have: Project management skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and execute solutions.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field.
