Quality Assurance Engineer

Role Summary

Oversee final-stage IC test operations to ensure product reliability and compliance with customer and automotive quality standards. The role governs final test processes including ATE setups, PFMEA updates, MRB decisions, and structured problem solving to prevent defects and test-induced damage.

Collaborate with operations, product engineering, and suppliers to maintain zero-defect shipments and drive continuous process improvement.

Experience Level

Mid-level — 3+ years of experience in semiconductor backend quality engineering or IC final test/product engineering.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include ownership of final test quality, failure investigation, and process controls.

• Govern final test operations and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) setups.
• Use statistical methods (SPC/MSA) to detect and prevent escape defects and minimize test-induced damage.
• Lead 8D problem-solving teams for yield drops, high retest rates, and RMAs.
• Implement controls to prevent mechanical and ESD damage during automated handling.
• Chair the Material Review Board (MRB) to evaluate and disposition non-conforming lots or abnormal binning.
• Maintain and update PFMEA based on line failure data.
• Conduct routine process and workstation audits to maintain ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• 3+ years in semiconductor backend quality engineering within IC final testing or product engineering environments.
• Practical experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across levels.
• Self-motivated with strong discipline and effective communication skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related discipline; or equivalent practical experience.
