QA Test Engineer

Role Summary

The QA Test Engineer will join the QuestaSim Quality Assurance team within the IC Verification Solutions division. The role focuses on validating and improving a high-performance hardware simulator through test planning, execution, automation, and defect triage.

Work covers functional verification, performance benchmarking, integration testing of customer designs, and maintaining automated test frameworks used across product releases.

Responsibilities

Core duties include designing and executing tests, automating test workflows, and communicating findings to development teams.

  • Learn and master the QuestaSim simulator and its underlying technology.
  • Write, maintain, and execute product test and quality plans; design, run, and summarize test cases.
  • Conduct integration, regression, license, installation, and GUI testing across the release lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain test automation frameworks to reduce manual testing and shorten turnaround time.
  • Integrate and validate customer designs in test environments and support customer use cases.
  • Perform benchmarking and performance measurements; collect and analyze tool performance data across releases.
  • Report, validate, and triage defects; determine root causes and severity before communicating to R&D.
  • Use code coverage tools and techniques to assess test coverage.
  • Assist deployment and monitoring of qualification techniques such as static/dynamic code analysis and memory leak detection.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

  • Must-have: Strong knowledge of digital and RTL design fundamentals.
  • Must-have: Proficient in Hardware Description Languages (Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog).
  • Must-have: Experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, and Python; experience with Qt.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with quality assurance concepts, test planning, testing strategies, and test automation tools.
  • Must-have: Experience with defect tracking systems, configuration management, and code profiling tools.
  • Must-have: Strong communication skills for presenting ideas and sharing knowledge with peers and R&D teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of UVM (strong advantage).
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with assertion specification languages (PSL, SVA, OVL) is a plus.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
