Role Summary

Responsible for automating and improving software testing processes for Siemens Digital Industries products with a focus on IC/EDA-related software. Works within the R&D team in Yerevan to design test plans, build and maintain automated test suites, and collaborate with developers to increase test coverage and product quality.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and executing automated tests, maintaining test frameworks, and coordinating test activities.

• Enhance and maintain existing test frameworks and tools.
• Rapidly understand product features (models, parameters) and derive test cases, including corner cases.
• Develop test plans, functional and regression test suites.
• Work with developers to define coverage goals and testing strategies.
• Manage testing tasks and schedules, and prepare documentation for testing projects.
• Analyze test run results, investigate failures, inspect logs, and fix or report issues.

Requirements

• Must-have: Practical experience in software testing and test automation.
• Must-have: Knowledge of Electronics and IC design, and familiarity with layout/schematic/verification EDA tools.
• Must-have: Strong scripting/coding skills (Python, TCL) and ability to learn new scripting languages quickly.
• Must-have: Experience working in UNIX environments and proficiency with UNIX shell scripting.
• Must-have: Ability to analyze logs and debug test failures; familiarity with test frameworks and automation workflows.
• Must-have: Basic understanding of grid/compute engines used to run tests.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Perl, memory/cache testing tools (e.g. Purify, Valgrind), code-coverage tools (e.g. gcov, Numega), and GUI testing tools (e.g. Squish, Rational Robot).
• Nice-to-have: Basic knowledge of IC design data formats (LEF, DEF, GDSII, OpenAccess) and prior experience managing testing projects and documentation.

Education Requirements

BS, MS or PhD in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science as stated in the source.
