Python DevOps Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Develop and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines for Wi‑Fi protocol testing. Work within the BU Wi‑Fi Connectivity Group to automate test execution, improve test coverage and reliability, and accelerate product delivery.
Experience Level
Mid-level / Experienced — typically expects 5+ years in test automation, DevOps, or combined QA/Automation/DevOps roles.
Responsibilities
Responsible for designing automation solutions, integrating tests into CI/CD, and maintaining reliable execution across environments.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python-based test automation frameworks for Wi‑Fi protocol testing.
- Write and optimize automation scripts in Python, Shell, and C for regression, feature validation, performance, and system-level tests.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar) and automate build, deployment, and test execution.
- Provision and manage test environments using Docker, containers, and virtualization tools.
- Debug automation failures, improve reliability and test coverage, and document test suites and results.
- Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and software teams to enable efficient release cycles.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 5+ years in test automation, DevOps, or a combined QA/Automation/DevOps role.
- Strong programming skills in Python and C; experience with Shell scripting.
- Proven ability to build automation frameworks from scratch.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- Experience with Linux, embedded platforms, networking fundamentals, and Wi‑Fi standards (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be).
- Familiarity with Git, code review practices, Docker, and containerized environments.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving skills, and effective English communication.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with virtualization tools and large-scale test lab automation.
- Experience integrating automated tests across multiple environments and release pipelines.
