Job Title

Critical Component Product Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for evaluating and introducing critical components for high-speed optical interconnect products and for transferring network silicon IC products (switch, NIC, SmartNIC) from design to mass production with focus on performance, cost and quality.

Work within NVIDIA Networking with design, hardware, process, and manufacturing teams to qualify components, validate performance, and resolve reliability issues.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role requests 3+ years of relevant experience in IC/silicon manufacturing, test, or assembly.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include component qualification, performance assessment, and tooling for production introduction.

  • Evaluate and qualify critical components for optical interconnect products.
  • Assess high-speed performance and margin of components at system and IC level.
  • Design and run DOE and corner-sample analyses to evaluate system behavior under different conditions.
  • Collaborate with design, hardware, process, and manufacturing groups to resolve component issues.
  • Set up automation, monitoring, and screening methodologies for manufacturing line introduction.
  • Investigate reliability issues at contract manufacturers and customer sites.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • 3+ years experience in IC/silicon manufacturing processes including fab, test, and assembly.
  • Strong statistics and data-analysis background; experience with JMP or similar tools and data-extraction tools.
  • Practical experience with product/test hardware, test software, and mechanical integration.
  • Experience operating products in high-volume production (ICs, systems, or similar).
  • Hands-on IC lab measurement experience (source meter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, optical power meter).
  • Knowledge of electro-optical devices (lasers, detectors) and familiarity with high-speed fiber-optic products and assembly processes.

Education Requirements

BSc required; MSc preferred. "Or equivalent" practical experience is acceptable per the posting.
