Product Validation Intern - Digital Backend
Role Summary
Support the backend product validation team by qualifying digital-backend tools and validating quality-of-results (QOR) across the implementation flow. Work covers place, CTS, routing and post-route optimization and supporting regression testing.
This is an engineering internship focused on practical tool verification and regression automation for digital implementation flows.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. No specific years of prior experience required; intended for students or early-career candidates able to commit to a multi-month internship.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include validating tool behavior across digital-backend flows and supporting automated regression.
- Execute and document qualification tests for backend implementation tools.
- Review and analyze QOR across place, clock-tree synthesis (CTS), routing, and post-route optimization stages.
- Create and run regression jobs; track failures and verify fixes.
- Develop or extend scripts and automation to reproduce issues and streamline validation.
- Collaborate with engineers to clarify test requirements and report defects.
Requirements
Essential technical and interpersonal skills for the role.
- Solid understanding of IC design concepts and digital implementation flow (synthesis, place, CTS, route, optimization) is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Linux environments.
- Scripting skills: TCL, Perl, Shell, or Python are a plus.
- Basic knowledge of AI concepts; experience with agentic AI is a plus.
- Good teamwork, patience, responsibility, and self-motivation.
- Good verbal and written communication in Chinese and English.
- Ability to commit to at least 4 days per week for more than 6 months.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Science (CS).
