Product Quality Engineer - Automotive Chip

Role Summary

Responsible for automating failure analysis and managing product quality from NPI through EOL for automotive chip devices. Works with cross-functional teams to investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain product reliability and production readiness.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Requires at least 3 years of technical experience in the semiconductor industry, preferably in product quality or test engineering.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include failure analysis automation, quality assurance, and sustaining test infrastructure.

  • Automate and execute failure analysis processes from NPI to EOL.
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints and escalations for chip products.
  • Support root-cause identification and drive corrective/preventive actions.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures and standards.
  • Perform inspections, tests, and analysis to identify defects and ensure spec compliance.
  • Cover test tools bring-up, maintenance, and sustaining product activities.
  • Monitor and report quality performance, trends, and field issues; feed lessons learned into DFMEA.
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to resolve quality and reliability issues.

Requirements

  • Must-have: Minimum 3 years of experience in product quality, test engineering, or similar roles within the semiconductor industry.
  • Must-have: Strong knowledge of quality control principles, failure analysis methodologies, and quality management systems/tools.
  • Must-have: Experience with inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of ICs and test systems.
  • Must-have: Solid problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Must-have: Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with CPU/SoC/automotive products and related standards.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on scripting or development experience (C/C++, Linux-based tooling).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) and socket-board test programming for IC failure analysis.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on use of lab failure-analysis tools such as CSAM, IR, Elite, EDS.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
