Product Quality Engineer

Role Summary

The Product Quality Engineer on Meta's Manufacturing Quality Engineering team owns manufacturing readiness for advanced compute and GPU platforms from NPI through high-volume production. The role coordinates with design engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to define test and manufacturing requirements, lead failure analysis, and drive yield, throughput, and reliability improvements at hyperscale.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 12+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field, with program management experience leading hardware from NPI to mass production.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include defining manufacturing and test requirements, driving production metrics, and resolving complex hardware issues during product transition to volume manufacturing.

• Own and drive manufacturing metrics (yield, throughput, cycle time, first-pass rate) across NPI and MP phases; set targets and reporting cadence.
• Define, develop, and validate manufacturing and test requirements for advanced compute and GPU systems from NPI to MP.
• Evaluate and improve test coverage, methodologies, and infrastructure to meet reliability and performance targets at scale.
• Lead complex hardware debugging, manage Major Issue List, and drive root cause analysis and FACA to resolve systemic issues.
• Travel internationally to supplier sites (up to 25%) to manage hardware validation and technical partnerships.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to drive power optimizations and performance tuning during manufacturing validation.
• Manage technical transition from prototypes to high-volume manufacturing and facilitate resolution of open design and test issues.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role.

Must have:

• 12+ years in manufacturing engineering or related field, with program/project management experience leading hardware from NPI to high-volume MP launch.
• Hands-on experience testing and validating compute and GPU systems; working knowledge of hardware architecture.
• Background in process development, bring-up, and qualification covering Final Assembly, Test, and Packout.
• Proven ability to drive alignment with stakeholders through proposals, design reviews, and presentations.

Nice to have:

• Experience working with international contract manufacturers and managing supplier relationships.
• Experience with reliability engineering methods (accelerated life testing, failure mode analysis) and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
• Experience with test automation frameworks, manufacturing execution systems (MES), and hyperscale data center hardware manufacturing.
• Familiarity with GPU architectures, high-performance computing, or AI/ML infrastructure hardware.

Education Requirements

Preferred: advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (e.g., M.S. or Ph.D.) as listed in preferred qualifications.
