Product Qualification Engineer (f/m/d)
Black SemiconductorJob Title
Product Qualification Engineer (f/m/d)
Role Summary
Execute product qualification campaigns that convert qualification plans into reproducible test setups, validated data, and traceable evidence for product release. The role reports to the Quality & Reliability Program Lead and works closely with Package Reliability, Product Engineering, and external laboratories/OSAT partners.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects approximately 2β4+ years of hands-on experience in hardware bring-up, bench testing, or product qualification campaigns.
Responsibilities
Convert qualification requirements into practical, repeatable test solutions and ensure accurate, well-documented results for release decisions.
- Plan and run bench and laboratory qualification tests (thermal, electrical, mechanical, environmental) per qualification plans and test matrices.
- Develop and bring up test PCBs, adapters, and fixtures with external partners from requirements through review and validation.
- Set up, configure, and maintain lab equipment: thermal chambers, power supplies, DAQ systems, probe stations, oscilloscopes, and RF/high-speed characterization tools.
- Coordinate qualification campaigns with OSATs and external labs: manage schedules, sample logistics, and provide on-site or remote supervision as needed.
- Collect, analyze, and document test data; produce pass/fail assessments and comprehensive, traceable test reports.
- Identify and escalate risks such as test failures, equipment limitations, data anomalies, or schedule impacts.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and workplace behaviors required to perform the role.
- 2β4+ years of hands-on experience in product qualification, hardware bring-up, or bench testing.
- Proven experience testing RF and high-speed I/O (high-speed serial, RF, optical links) using VNAs, high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs, and similar signal-integrity tools. Experience limited to low-speed digital/logic testing is not sufficient.
- Proficiency with laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, thermal chambers, and DAQ systems.
- Experience defining test-hardware requirements and collaborating with PCB design/fabrication partners during bring-up.
- Strong test execution, data analysis, and documentation skills with attention to traceability and reproducibility.
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional and external partners, and to work in a fast-paced startup environment with initiative and adaptability.
- Nice-to-have: photonics testing experience and prior coordination with OSATs or external test labs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
