Product Power Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and optimizing power consumption for SiFive IP across architecture, RTL, and silicon. Collaborates with architecture, design, and implementation teams to improve power efficiency and validate power models.
Opportunity to influence low-power, high-performance processor designs used in AI, data center, mobile, and embedded markets.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 3+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
The Product Power Engineer will:
- Collect and analyze IP power consumption data from models, RTL, and silicon.
- Develop and correlate power models with RTL and silicon measurements.
- Work with architects and designers to optimize microarchitecture and implementation for power efficiency.
- Evaluate power impacts at architecture, logic, and circuit levels and advise on performance–power trade-offs.
- Improve and automate power analysis and benchmarking flows.
- Provide technical guidance during ASIC implementation, verification, and backend flows.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- 3+ years of experience in power benchmarking, analysis, and modeling.
- Experience with power impacts at architecture, logic-design, and circuit levels.
- Strong knowledge of high-performance out-of-order CPU architecture.
- Experience guiding performance vs. power trade-offs toward optimal designs.
- Experience with ASIC power analysis and optimization.
- Hands-on experience in either hardware development (RTL, implementation, backend, FPGA flows) or software development is a strong plus.
- Self-starter, fast learner, and strong problem-solving skills.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Architecture.
