Product Line Manager
Role Summary
The Product Line Manager will define and execute product strategy for high-speed optical interconnect solutions, with emphasis on pluggable optics and next-generation 800G and 1.6T transceiver platforms. This individual contributor partners with product, engineering, program management, application engineering, commercial teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to drive product development, validation, and production launches.
Experience Level
Senior-level — typically 7–10 years industry experience supporting or managing optical product lines.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include product lifecycle management, cross-functional coordination, supplier engagement, and customer support for pluggable optical solutions.
- Own and drive execution of the co-packaged optical solution product line: strategy, technical requirements, milestones, and production launch objectives.
- Coordinate across engineering, product, program management, application engineering, commercial teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to keep programs on schedule.
- Manage manufacturing partner engagement for design verification, reliability testing, compliance, and release to production.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across Photonics Design, Hardware Design, Packaging, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, Product Marketing, and Supply Chain.
- Lead internal readiness planning for materials, suppliers, documentation, and operational requirements to support customer programs.
- Support supplier technical discussions and ensure qualified suppliers meet validation, reliability, quality, and production release requirements.
- Prepare and present technical reviews, product line updates, reliability reports, and risk assessments for leadership and customer engagements.
- Support product adoption and customer integration; gather and synthesize customer feedback to inform roadmap and product decisions.
Requirements
Key qualifications and skills required or strongly preferred.
- Must-have: 7–10 years supporting or managing optical product lines for communications, networking, or data transmission applications.
- Must-have: Working knowledge of pluggable optical modules and transceiver technologies, including 800G platforms and emerging 1.6T architectures.
- Must-have: Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, sales, and manufacturing teams.
- Must-have: Familiarity with product lifecycle management, market analysis, customer engagement, and commercial trade-offs driven by product metrics.
- Nice-to-have: Experience in photonics, optics, or adjacent high-speed connectivity technologies.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to cloud infrastructure, data center, or optical networking markets.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with common pluggable transceiver form factors and deployment considerations (e.g., QSFP-DD, OSFP).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
