Product Line Manager
Role Summary
Individual contributor responsible for strategy and execution across high-speed optical interconnect product lines, with emphasis on pluggable optics and next-generation 800G and 1.6T transceiver platforms.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, program management, application engineering, commercial teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to define priorities, support customer integration, and drive product launches for cloud, AI, and optical networking customers.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. The posting requests approximately 7β10 years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Own and drive execution of the co-packaged optical solution product line: define strategy, technical requirements, development milestones, and production launch objectives.
- Coordinate across Photonics Design, Hardware Design, Packaging, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, Product Marketing, and Supply Chain to transfer products to production.
- Partner with engineering, product, customer-facing teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to identify technical gaps and keep programs on schedule.
- Lead manufacturing partner engagement for design verification, reliability testing, compliance, and production readiness activities.
- Prepare and present technical reviews, product updates, reliability reports, and risk assessments for internal leadership and customers.
- Support customer integration and adoption by working with customer engineering teams to resolve issues and enable design wins for pluggable optical solutions.
- Perform market analysis and gather customer feedback to inform roadmap, product lifecycle decisions, and competitive positioning.
- Assist in developing customer proposals and business cases balancing technical trade-offs and commercial objectives.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- Experience supporting or managing optical product lines for communications, networking, or data transmission applications.
- Working knowledge of pluggable optical modules and transceiver technologies, including 800G platforms and emerging 1.6T architectures.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, sales, and manufacturing teams.
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management, market analysis, and customer engagement processes.
- Comfort working with business metrics, product performance data, and commercial trade-offs.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, component validation, reliability, quality, and production release requirements.
Nice-to-have:
- MBA or advanced technical degree.
- Experience in photonics, optics, or adjacent high-speed connectivity technologies.
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure, data center, or optical networking markets.
- Familiarity with common pluggable transceiver form factors such as QSFP-DD and OSFP.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
