Job Title

Product Engineering Lead

Role Summary

Lead end-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) and production ramp for high-speed optical interconnect products, including co-packaged optics (CPO) and pluggable optics. Work across design, packaging, test, reliability, operations and supply chain to deliver manufacturable, repeatable production processes and meet volume ramp objectives.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. Requires significant practical experience; the posting requests 10+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Own NPI execution, manufacturing readiness, and production ramp for optical interconnect products. Coordinate cross-functional activities to enable predictable product launches.

  • Manage NPI from engineering prototype through qualification, production release, and volume ramp (EVT/DVT/PVT and mass production).
  • Define and track NPI milestones, yield targets, qualification deliverables, and production release gates.
  • Develop production test, characterization and qualification plans; establish release criteria for 100G/200G/400G-per-lane products.
  • Drive manufacturing readiness including process flows, assembly methods, tooling, test coverage, documentation, and supplier readiness.
  • Lead yield optimization and structured root-cause analysis; implement corrective actions with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.
  • Establish data-driven dashboards to monitor test coverage, yield trends, reliability, and ramp health.
  • Partner with OSATs, module manufacturers, suppliers and internal sites to align process capability, quality controls, traceability and ramp capacity.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing/test/quality/reliability and feed lessons learned back into product and process improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and skills for leading production launches of optical/high-speed interconnect products.

  • 10+ years in product engineering, NPI, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, quality engineering, or production ramp for semiconductor, photonics, optical module, or high-speed interconnect products.
  • Proven ownership of NPI programs from prototype through qualification and volume production.
  • Strong understanding of optical interconnect components and modules (transceivers, silicon photonics, lasers, modulators, detectors, optical coupling, packaging, module assembly).
  • Experience with high-speed optical and electrical test methodologies, production test development, calibration, and test correlation.
  • Hands-on familiarity with measurement and test equipment (BER testers, oscilloscopes, optical spectrum analyzers, optical power meters, network analyzers, thermal chambers, automated test systems).
  • Experience developing qualification and reliability test plans (environmental, mechanical, optical, electrical, lifetime stress testing).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze yield data, identify systematic failure modes, lead root-cause investigations, and drive corrective actions across design, process, test and suppliers.
  • Experience working with OSATs, contract manufacturers, component suppliers, foundries, or global manufacturing sites.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and influencing skills in a matrixed global organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present technical risks, readiness status and ramp plans to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-directed, structured, and detail-oriented; able to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optical Engineering, or a related technical discipline required. An advanced degree is preferred. Equivalent technical experience may be considered.
