Product Engineering Internship, Electronics Hardware Design (Fall 2026)

Role Summary

Work as an intern on electronics hardware product engineering for PCB-focused Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software on the Product Engineering team in Burlington. Contribute to tool development, requirements definition, and usability feedback to improve PCB layout workflows.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for currently enrolled students. Full-time, Fall 2026 term; expected to work onsite 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

Primary contributions expected during the internship:

  • Develop and test EDA features for PCB layout and design workflows.
  • Work with emerging agentic AI methods to support automated PCB design generation.
  • Gather technical input from experts and customers to create Product Requirement Specifications.
  • Provide feedback to development teams on layout tool functionality, user experience, and use models.
  • Perform hands-on lab tests and evaluations of electrical systems and prototypes.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and logistical requirements.

  • Experience or coursework in designing, developing, and testing electrical systems; practical lab experience with digital systems and signal processing.
  • Familiarity with PCB and hardware design tools such as Cadence Allegro, Siemens Xpedition, Altium Designer, or KiCad.
  • Available to work onsite in Burlington, MA full time (40 hours/week) for the Fall semester; this role is not remote.
  • Applicants should be enrolled at a local school near the Burlington office.

Nice-to-have:

  • Interest or experience with machine learning and AI methodologies applied to design automation.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent degree; coursework or emphasis in digital systems, signal processing, and electronics. Attendance at a local (Burlington-area) school is expected.
