Product Engineer II

Role Summary

Entry-level product engineering role in the Digital & Signoff Group (Liberate Library Characterization Team). The engineer will develop expertise in library characterization, modeling, circuit simulation, and automation while supporting R&D and customer engagements.

Work focuses on characterizing standard cells, memory, I/O, and mixed-signal IP and delivering technical solutions for advanced semiconductor projects.

Entry-level β€” designed for recent graduates and new graduates transitioning into customer-facing product engineering roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include development, validation, and customer support tasks related to library characterization and associated tooling.

  • Learn and apply library characterization methodologies for standard cells, memory, I/O, and mixed-signal IP using Cadence Liberate products.
  • Analyze timing, power, and variation characterization results and investigate technical issues.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to validate new product features and improve characterization flows.
  • Debug customer-reported problems and help develop technical solutions.
  • Develop automation tools and workflows using Python, Tcl, Perl, or shell scripting.
  • Support customer engagement teams in technology adoption and project execution.
  • Create technical documentation, training materials, and application notes.
  • Contribute to product evaluations and benchmarking for advanced semiconductor technologies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and aptitudes for the role; preferred skills listed separately.

  • Must-have: Strong foundation in semiconductor devices, CMOS circuits, and digital design fundamentals.
  • Must-have: Basic understanding of circuit simulation and SPICE concepts.
  • Must-have: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Must-have: Effective written and verbal communication and ability to work collaboratively in a global engineering environment.
  • Must-have: Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and processes.
  • Must-have: Practical scripting/programming skills (Python, Tcl, Perl, or Shell) for automation tasks.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to timing, power, and library characterization concepts and workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Liberty formats (NLDM, CCS, ECSM, LVF, EM) and circuit simulators such as Spectre.
  • Nice-to-have: Basic understanding of statistics, Monte Carlo simulation, and process variation concepts.
  • Nice-to-have: Coursework or project experience in VLSI design, semiconductor devices, or EDA tools.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
