Job Title

Product Engineer, Front End

Role Summary

Build and evolve the core web experience for Flux's browser-based editor and AI-assisted workflows. This is a product-facing engineering role focused on complex, interactive interfaces used for real engineering work.

You will work primarily in React and TypeScript, collaborating with design and ECAD engineers to keep a real-time, multi-pane application fast, reliable, and maintainable.

Experience Level

Mid-level through Senior. The team is open to candidates across this range; level and compensation align to demonstrated experience and ownership. No specific years-of-experience requirement provided.

Responsibilities

Own and deliver user-facing features in a complex, collaborative web application.

  • Implement and iterate core UI features using React and TypeScript.
  • Collaborate with design to refine flows from concept to production.
  • Maintain predictable, scalable UI state and data flows in a multi-pane editor.
  • Improve responsiveness and perceived performance as projects grow.
  • Integrate frontend with APIs and backend services; make small backend changes as needed.
  • Maintain shared component libraries and design-system primitives.
  • Add instrumentation for usage metrics, error logging, and UX dashboards.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, documentation, and mentorship.

Requirements

Core qualifications for applicants.

Must-have:

  • Strong command of modern React and TypeScript in sizable production codebases.
  • Experience shipping and iterating on complex, interactive web applications (design tools, visual editors, multi-pane interfaces).
  • Experience building responsive UIs on top of asynchronous or computation-heavy backends.
  • Browser performance profiling and debugging skills.
  • Comfortable working across the stack to integrate APIs and make small backend changes.
  • Experience in startup or high-ownership environments; ability to operate with high autonomy.
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate.

Nice-to-have / Preferred:

  • Experience building distributed, collaborative, real-time applications.
  • Experience with complex editor interfaces, CAD, developer tools, or design tools.
  • Familiarity with state management patterns in large React apps (Redux or equivalent).
  • Experience with WebWorkers, WebAssembly, or background computation in the browser.
  • Experience integrating AI-powered features into user-facing products.
  • Experience building high-performance frontends handling large data models.
  • Open source contributions in frontend or developer tooling.

Education Requirements

Not specified.
